Should I drop out and go to CC or wait out the semester?

Right now I’m a freshman in my first semester. I absolutely hate my school and I want to go closer to home. I only picked this school because it gave me the largest scholarship and i thought i could learn to like it. Obviously that didn’t happen, and I should’ve listened to what my heart was telling me that i’d hate it here. Really all I want to do is drop out at this point because i am so unhappy. I’ve only had one test in each of my classes and i have about an 85 to 90 in all my classes, but i’m not sure if i can maintain that. I would feel awful wasting my parents money and dropping out right now but if i can’t keep my grades up i’m scared ill get a terribly GPA and have basically waisted the semester anyways because i’ll want to retake al the classes i did bad in. So i was wondering if i dropped out now would i be able to start taking community college classes near my home right away or would i have to wait until next semester to start? If i wait out the semester and i start to do bad ina class i will want to withdrawal but i’m nervous as to how that will affect mt chances of transferring. I’m also looking into going to a different 4 year school next semester near my home which is about the same selectivity as the school i go to now. i know i could’ve gotten into the school with my high school grades and sat but i’m scared that if i get a bad gpa this semester i’ll get denied from that school and how they will view me withdrawaling from classes if that happens. Sorry if this is slightly confusing, i am really lost right now and have no idea what to do. thanks for any help

Go to the counseling center first thing in the morning and get help with this decision.

It is probably too late for you to drop out and have no academic transcript, and it may well be too late for you to drop out without any financial repercussions. Try to figure out how you can make it to the end of the semester with your mental heath intact.

Given that we are now in October, it is most likely that your community college’s fall term has already begun. You will almost certainly have to wait until January to enroll there.

Since you are so unhappy, contact the transfer admissions office at the university that is close to your home, and find out what you need to do in order to apply for January admission. That will give you an additional option to attending the community college.
