So I'm a freshman at Frostburg, and I'm taking a math, an english (required), a social studies, and biology, (my major). I'm terrible at math, but I love science. The thing is, my core classes have a load of work especially bio, so should I add/drop some of them? Theater is my minor, but they don't have theater for my spot because it conflicts with my bio and orienttion class. Art did too. Idk what to do. What would you do if you were me? My social studies is human geo, which i took in high school and the stuff on the syllabus is recognizable.

Right now is the add/drop period

If I was in your position, I wouldn’t drop anything. I’d only be taking four class which I believe is manageable.

Are you on a semester or quarter system? Would dropping a class put your hours below full time?

If I dropped a class I would replace it with another class. Im on a semester system.

Before you drop or add a course, you need to make sure that is not a requirement for a course you want to take next semester or if is a course that is usually taken in a set sequence.

It appears that you are taking four courses. At most schools that is considered a lighter load. If math is causing problems, I would find out what resources the school offer to get help understanding it. Go to office hours. See if there is a tutoring center. Also consider getting help with your study habits. Maybe you need to adjust your study habits. Most freshmen do. If it is really a issue then consider a add/drop but remember you will be behind in the new course.

I think I need to adjust my studying habits too. Im not much of a reader. I need to get used to it. Im just scared cause everyone has been telling my my schedule is hard, and i get worried that i under or over study something sometimes. I have classes every weekday, and have 3 on every day except for one (one of the classes is a bio lab for bio 149). So I have trouble finding time studying, and i just got the rest of my books (for bio and geo) this morning. because classes started this past tuesday. It was harder without them. I really like pre med, but i really like theater at the same time, so my brain is confused. I want to have one as my major and one as my minor. Technically bio is my major right now, but i dont declare it till the spring semester. I guess im going through a mix of confusion right now and am just a scared freshman.

Okay so I talked to my bio lecture professor and she told me to only use the book for examples, and to only refer to her powerpoint and I’ll be fine. I think I will handle all my classes. I was just being a worried freshman haha. Thanks everyone!
