Should I drop a class?

I'm a freshman who is currently taking four classes, totaling in 17 credits. I am currently taking French, Bio., Research Methods, and Conflict Analysis/Resolution. As for my research methods class, I will need to write at least a 12 page research paper as well as have a presentation, I think this will take up a bulk of my time. French and Bio. are doable but as for my Conflict class, I'm thinking of dropping it. It's not like it is a difficult course, it just doesn't interest me. It isn't a class I need to take to fulfill my gen. ed. requirement plus it is also hard for me to understand my professor at times because of his accent. Course load wise, it is just four papers and two tests which are just verbatim out of the text he's provided us. I'm a little too lazy to do the work and I don't see much of what I will get out of doing the work. I don't think I will get a good grade in this course either.

I plan on being a bio. major. I would have taken a course that would have gone with my major but there was no room in the classes I needed to take since I signed up late. I'm also part of the honors college at my university. Would it look bad if I dropped this course and just take 3 courses this semester even if I'm still taking 14 credits? I had actually dropped another course to take this one, which I thought would be more interesting but that isn't the case at this moment.

As you can see I am a bit rash and all over the place or I am very all over the place. I tend to pick up an interest, drop it, and pursue something else. Anyway, I just feel like it would be best to drop the class and try to put myself together so that I am ready for next semester.

If you don’t want to take the class and you don’t need it for anything, then drop it. No one will care. The only concern would be if you drop below full time (if you need to remain a full time student), but it doesn’t sound like you will. Just check to make sure that this won’t affect your graduation time or anything else that might require a minimum number of units.
