Should I elaborate on the "favorites" section of the Princeton application

Should I elaborate on the “favorites” section of the Princeton application, or just write the plain answer?

For example, let say my favorite movie is “Pulp Fiction”
Under favorite movie, should i just answer “Pulp Fiction”, or “Pulp Fiction. I love the bla bla bla of the bla bla bla”

Thank you for answering,

QueenZi

I think you should answer plainly since some other colleges have the “What is…? And why?”. So, if Princeton really wanted to know why, they would have asked for it.

Additionally, I don’t think the “why” will add any depth. People got to like their favorite movies for no explicit reasons; they just love them.

However, take my advice cautiously as I am merely a fellow student applying to Princeton.

As a parent of a current student at Princeton, I’ve heard students do both. My son just answered the favorites straight-up with zero elaboration (song title with artist, quote with citation, book with author, etc). I know other students wrote a tiny bit on some questions. I would just say to use caution when elaborating. Clearly, you don’t need to add anything if you don’t want to. I would be wary of letting nerves and anxiety make you feel like you have to write more. At the same time, if you have something to add, keep it short.

Straight up, no elaboration, accepted SCEA. But they were good honest unpretentious answers IMHO.
