Should I email admissions (issue with application)?

I submitted my application to Rutgers New Brunswick this past saturday. At the time, my essay had been copy and pasted seemingly perfectly into the preview screen and had no issues in the pdf form. However, I’m looking at my application now and my quotations at one point of the essay have been changed to two upside down question marks. I’m really worried that admissions will think that I did not proofread the essay even though at the time they hadn’t shown up like that. Is it worth me sending an email?

Are you sure that is the only punctuation that has been changed? Just asking because my kid had the same issue a couple of years ago, except the whole essay was littered with all kinds of crazy punctuation. She did email and was told that other students had the same problem.

If it’s literally just a couple of question marks, I wouldn’t’ worry. They will probably already be aware of the issue.

@Lindagaf I did look again and the apostrophes that have been changed as well. Did she apply to Rutgers as well? I emailed them a PDF of my essay as well as explained the situation which I hope will help. Thank you for your reply I really am worried about this and it helped to hear others have had the same issue.

Nope, totally different school. Don’t worry, it’s not a big deal. If it’s happened to you, it’s happened to others.

D had the same issues with another application. My understanding is that the issue involves using fonts that have smart quotes which are replaced by ASCII character substitutions.

I’m guessing lots are in the same situation. When it happened to D. She called and was told not to worry and it was common.

For my other kids I have them copy and paste into MS notepad and fix any issues before the final paste into application.
