I'm about done with most of my applications, however there are some I've held off on applying to. Specifically I'm talking about yale, princeton, u penn, and columbia. I have some pretty good things going for me and some other not-so-good things. So I was hoping some of you out there could go over some of my "Stats" and see if i even have a shot or if i should just save the money from the application fee.

Recommendations
I've gotten recommendations from 2 teachers that think highly of me. My language teacher has known me since I was 4 and always praised me for being hard-working. My chem teacher has had me for 2 years, and I am told she thinks very highly of me.

Essay
I'm pretty confident in my essay. It focused on my drive and desire to make change in the world. I've taken it to several essay reviewers who have praised it.

Awards/achievements
This is where i fear i lack the most. I have achieved the status of a national merit semifinalist, but aside from a few student/athlete awards I don't really have anything special.

"Hook"
I suppose it's worth mentioning that I'm a white, first generation, Polish-American. I'm still currently struggling with anxiety and depression. I don't really have a hook. I'm helping my mom create a program that aims to teach autistic kids social skills, though I feel my contribution has been rather lackluster recently.

So I guess that's everything. Sat scores are kind of low; I'm taking the sat one more time, but I've been so busy with senior year that I haven't had too much time to study. My ap scores are also pretty low for the ivies, I didn't care "that" much about a perfect 5 because I knew the 4 would get me enough credit. I think my lack of awards hurts me the most. Anyway, I'm wondering if should even apply to these schools. I personally think my resume is impressive but I doubt that I have a good shot at making it. In addition, northeastern offers large scholarships for those with national merit. Should I apply?
