Even if I wasn't a minority, I would still apply. Ive been in love with Brown since I was a freshmen in High School. Thanks for all your advice people but I would say that there is a line between being real and being kind of mean.

Look at Brown's facts and figures page. You will see that your chances will those SAT scores are extremely small...probably roughly 3 or 4%. Now you could possibly get in if the rest of your application was stellar, but a 3.2 won't cut it when nearly all accepted applicants have 3.7 or higher. Your GPA is just WAY too far out of range. Look, if you love Brown, apply. But you have about a B average and I know several people who have never received a B and didn't get in (although personal anecdotes mean little). But your stats are much lower than other applicants and personally I think many would say that it would be a waste of money to apply. Good luck with whatever you decide! :)

Never give up on your dreams- if Brown is your school, apply. It is quite likely that you won't get in, so possibly go to a school with a similar culture (or with good fin aid). If you don't like that, apply as a transfer. Brown has a higher transfer acceptance rate than regular. Good luck!!

Also, if you go to a tough school, or a highly ranked school, there are BOUND to be a lot of your peers applying... including other "minorities" (as if AA is really that big of a deal) so you might have a hard time just fighting for a spot with your classmates.

Also, what other APs have you taken?

In addition, I don't think you can say your essay is "excellent." Only the admission officer can say if your essay is excellent, considering that their opinion is, practically, the only opinion that matters.

Apply ED. I think that Brown is likely to be as generous on Aid as any other place so losing the ability to compare offers might be less important. The acceptance rate of those who don't apply is...zero!

Your stats are a bit low on the surface for Brown so you need to work with your guidance counselor to highlight that you will be a first generation college student and take a very heavy course load. Is your 3.2 weighted or unweighted? If you are performing competitively with your peers at a tough school (have your grades improved over your HS career?) in AP courses and get good scores on the exams you may have a better chance that it first appears.

BTW, there are many fine smaller schools on the East Coast that "feel" similar to Brown that would be more than happy to take someone with your record.

Brown's aid was not as generous as any other school my D was accepted to - it was the highest of a $10,000 range in EFC. They came down and she will be attending, but make sure you understand the commitment of ED before you apply.

Definitely apply, I think if you even get that SAT score to 1850-1900 range that you have a fairly decent shot of being accepted. No joke.
If you get in next year remember that Ecliptica was the first one to say "I told you so".

Fairly decent, as in, an equal chance as the next guy who

Apply. Your chances don't look good, but hey, I knew a guy who got into Cornell with a 1070 MV, a poor GPA, poor leadership skills (he ran for President of EVERYTHING for the sake of applications, then quit when he lost. The single one he "won" was the one where he practically crowned himself... and then he got impeached). He's not rich, poor, or a minority. No special skills. No social skills. Terrible writer.

He even had a repulsive personality beyond any disgusting character ever devised in fiction.

You seem like you're smarter and much more decent, so you have a shot. By gods, if HE got into an Ivy League school, practically everyone has a chance.
