Here are my stats:
International Student
SAT 1: 2010 (CR: 680, Maths: 730, Writing: 600)
SAT 2: Math 1c 730, Physics 780, Chemistry 760)
GPA: 3.1 (my school does’nt have a ranking sysrem)
Have decent ECAs.
The thing is I need a lot of aid and with my stats is it possible to get in?

Your SAT scores are strong. However, your GPA may hurt you. But you certainly have a decent chance of being admitted. Make your essay count!

thanks...but i forgot to mention I did my O-Levels and A-levels (8A and 3 A respectively) and my school is really competitive... my gpa would put me in the top 15%

tanveer, where are you from?

bangladesh

i am from bangladesh also and am at bucknell now (2nd year). Bucknell doesnt care too much about the SAT 1 writing, though your writing score is kind of low. But your math score is fine, your verbal is within the middle 50% range of bucknell students admitted the past year. Your sat 2 scores are very good. your gpa could be better.

but i would encourage you to work on the rest of your application well, and apply to bucknell. give your toefl. i am here on aid, a lot of other internationals are on aid also, i know 1 bangladeshi freshman who is on aid currently. if you have more questions, any admitted student stats you want to know, post them here and i'll see if i can answer them for you.

Hey man,
I just go admitted and I had 1970 Sats, 1 SAT 2 630 and 3.4 GPA
Might as well give it a shot!!

retook the SAT in december... new scores 730 cr/730 m/680 w...btw solomon r u an international student? if so did u recieve aid?

tanveer - your SAT scores are all very good now. SAT 2 scores also very good. Make sure you apply. Internationals do get enough aid at bucknell. Do the rest of your application well.

I was just wondering how much emphasis do they put on the supplement questions and optional essay?

i dont know about emphasis but make sure you do all questions and the optional essay. try to differentiate yourself from others through these things. make yourself a unique candidate so that they want to admit you. bucknell doesn't have a very big international student population so they do look to admit qualified internationals. submit a good application (your scores are all very good now) and you do have a good chance.
