Hi, I am currently in the military and I am getting out next year, in the fall. I'm taking night classes right now and I would like to transfer to a university to finally obtain my bachelor's degree in computer engineering. My biggest obstacle right now, is that I am currently taking Precalculus and General Chemistry I for the Fall 2011 semester; however, most of the engineering programs for the schools I want to apply to require Calculus I already completed and in some cases Calculus II as well.
I plan to take calculus I in the spring next semester, and calculus II for the summer. Do I even have a shot at these schools if I apply with Calculus I in-progress? Both calc I and II will be done be the end of summer 2012, but the deadline for most schools is sometime in spring 2012. What do you guys think? Since I'll be leaving the military around this time next year, I wont have any steady income coming in. Should I stay at my CC after I leave the military for now and wait until those classes are finished and then apply the following year? Or should I do it now? I'll be using the GI bill, so I guess I'll have some income coming in, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to use it at the school I transfer to if I go ahead and use it for the CC.

These are the schools I'm interested in applying to as well as my stats:
Want to major in: Computer Engineering
Current school: Ventura College
HS GPA: dont really know how to calculate it, I have an 82 overall as my grade (horrible I know)
Current GPA: 3.68 (should go up to 3.79 if I get A's in both my classes this semester)
SAT/ACT scores: CR-640, Math-600, Writing-590, total 1830 (I just retook them this year, but I think I can do better and might end up retaking them again)
Hooks: US Navy active duty, 1st generation hispanic (Mexican specifically, although I am a US citizen), parents are living in Mexico now, so I will be applying for FA I guess, also I know I'm gonna write the hell out of my essays!
Another thing to consider is I have currently completed 19 credit hours and I'll have 29 credits by the end of this year.

Interested in applying to:
UT-Austin
UI- Urbana Champaign
Texas A&M
Purdue University
University of Southern California
Rice University
Rensselear Polytechnical Institute
Penn State
University of Wisconsin- Madison
UMass- Amherst
Rutgers- New Brunswick
Ohio State University (Safety school I guess)
Rose-Hulman Insitute (I hear its really good and its free to apply so why not?)
I was also interested in UCLA, UCB, and UCSD, but I heard you need at least 60 credits done to transfer to ANY UC

I really need to narrow this list down, it gets really expensive paying 60-75$ to apply to every college. BTW, anyone know a whats a good number of colleges to apply to? I mostly picked schools with strong engineering programs so do you guys think I have a shot at any of these schools with my circumstances? My dream is to get my bachelors and then come back to the military as an officer. Thanks in advance.
