Should I Even Bother?

Alright i am a really confused kid right now. Im a junior which means i started thinking about what college i want to attend but i dont know if i am up to par so ill tell you about myself. I dont have that great of grades but i'd say im average. im looking into the US Coast Guard Academy as my first choice and some UC's and CSU's. My gpa is around a 3.3. i am in all college prep classes except for history and spanish which are APs. I also have some college course credit. im taking the sat in may. i anticipate a score of at least 1700 or more. so far i know its a definate "no" but i am really involved. i have a alot of extracurriculars but im only going to give you the ones that i am truly proud about. I am in the school wind ensemble, the marching band, and in a college wind ensemble nearby which i have done all throughout high school and in some cases even longer. Besides doing alot of music im actually "ok" at it. I am the principal player at my school, a 2x state qualifier for the state honor band. ive been in the So. Cal honor band and ive done the Cal poly all state band twice. ive also done some regional/county honor bands. im also a section leader in band btw. besides music i am on the wrestling team. i have been varsity for a year and i was JV captain too. i am doing wrestling all throughout h.s and i am in the "freestyle" wrestling club. Some volunteer activities that i do are ushering at the local arts plaza and being a police explorer. Finally my occupation is being an office assistant at a financial planning firm. Do you think i can get in somewhere?

YES...you can obviously get in somewhere, especially the CSUs

I think you may have a shot at the tier 2 UC's (UCI, UCSB, UCD), UCSB is particular. It just depends on how much luck you have. This year, I know so many people who have got into UCSB with stats that don't even compare to yours. So don't give up hope, keep trying and don't be discouraged by what some people say on CC because what they say isn't always necessarily what's going to happen. (though you should already know that).

hey i really appreciate the answers from you two thanks.
