Should I even consider Caltech as a possible college to apply to?

I do study abroad but I am technically an american citizen born in California giving me automatic citizenship

I didn’t mean to sound sarcastic it’s just the tour in Caltech gave me the impression that only 2400 academic behemoths go to Caltech and anyone below that is deemed inferior

Here is the common data set for admitted students at Caltech. Again, this is not the composite score, but you see not all students get a 2400, many are in 2300+ range. So there are students who get in with say 710 in Writing or reading.

Test Scores 25th Percentile* 75th Percentile**
SAT Critical Reading 700 780
SAT Math 770 800
SAT Writing 710 780
ACT Composite 34 35
ACT English 33 35
ACT Math 34 36

NOTES:

  • 25% of students scored at or below
** 25% of students scored above

Data apply to first-time degree/certificate-seeking students.
Institutions are asked to report test scores only if they are required for admission.

So high scores are important but 2350 is not a low score at all by Caltech standards or by most college standards.
