ESSAYS: really good
recs: really good
URM (latino), dual citizenship (Peru+US), german school in Lima

so.. anyone can give me their opinion?? honestly is greatly appreciated!
thanks in advance :)

If you're REALLY interested, then you should apply regardless of your statistics. :) Good luck!

thanks... but it is true that SAT I math average is like 780 or smth?????

yea it's pretty high, your scores are definitely lower than average... but I wouldn't say you have ZERO chance..

you really should post some of ur math and science EC's ur scores don't say much about you.

hm... mechatronics summer course (college level), interesting/hard physics extracurricular, 1st place class in math and physics... but that is all :s....I have other ECs not pertaining the field of science... Im a well rounded person I guess -_-
.. does CalTech like well rounded??

I think they do like well rounded as long as the math and science are there. While there are students who are admitted who do nothing but math and science, there are also plenty that are involved in music, sports, drama, and other activities. My son participates in music and sports activities at Caltech and that is not unusual. The "personal" note that everyone gets on their admission letter in his case mentioned one of the sports he participates in.

hm...Im still stuck between Yale or CalTech.. I know i have low chances for both...but my dad will only pay for one more application

if your interests are mainly in math and science, and you are choosing between Yale and Caltech to which to apply, I would go with Caltech unless you feel you have a hook with Yale and you are looking for a larger school with a broader liberal arts bent. Both are extremely selective, but Caltech will put a bit more emphasis on your abilities in math and science than Yale probably will and certainly you will find peers who have similar interests. If you have financial need, I am not sure, but I think Yale may be more generous with FA (I could be totally wrong on this - so that would be something I would research if I were you) Generally I feel, though, that you should apply to the schools at which you will best fit, not just at schools whose names carry a certain amount of prestige.
