Should I explain my bad math grades in non college lvl courses in the "additional comments" section?

Should I explain my bad math grades on my transcript in the “additional comments” section of my college app even though they weren’t college level courses?

I’m transferring from a CC to University. My only bad grades are in my intermediate algebra classes like Math 098/099. I took both twice, and withdrew from one if I remember correctly (I know, I know). My question is since these aren’t college level courses, should I still explain why I didn’t do well in them? I took an actual college level math class after those that wasn’t algebra focused (Math 107; Math in Society) and did perfectly fine and the same thing happened in high school, did bad at regular algebra and got an A in my financial algebra class that focused on stuff like taxes, interest rates, etc…I also don’t plan on doing anything that involves a heavy focus on technical math like that and plan to major in Media and Communications study.
The subheading says “(OPTIONAL) Use this section for anything you wish to express that doesn’t seem to fit in any of the previous required writing areas. For example, if you have experienced personal hardships in attaining your education, if your activities have been limited because of work or family obligations, or if you want us to know how important a personal or professional goal is to you, tell us here.”

What is your explanation? Unless it’s an explanation that might tell the adcom that your skills are better than your grades indicate (for example, distracted from studying due to a family or health issue), then just leave it blank.

A bad excuse is worse than saying nothing, because it draws an additional look at your area of weakness while adding nothing positive in the process.

Yeah, you’re right. I don’t there was much I could say. I just always sucked at regular math and did okay in “real life” math. I think I’ll leave it blank.
