Should I force myself to take AP Literature Senior Year?

I’m a rising senior and from the look at my workload, all of my classes are going to be AP next year. I’m planning on having 2 study halls and the rest my academics. This year, I’ve taken AP Lang and barely scrapped by (low 90s, but consistent), and am currently considering if I should take AP Lit next year (It’s either AP or L1, no honors). Will this look bad to colleges that I’m planning on applying to (Top 20-30 schools)?

I don’t mind the rigor of the AP class, I can take it, but I as writing a scientific paper (research internship) this summer as well as volunteering at various locations. In addition, I am planning to start writing my college essays to apply for early action. AP Lit requires you to read 6 books and write essays and keep journals, I do not know if that is really feasible or not… (On top of all this, I’m also running a web development freelance company)

Thoughts?

It won’t matter at all. My S is not taking it either. He is just not interested in it and has enough APs on his schedule already. You will have plenty going on. Relax:)

Don’t force yourself. You have enough going on, including rigorous academics.

No, it’s fine. On top of what everyone else said, many top colleges don’t even give credit for both Lit and Lang.

My son did not take AP Lit because he already had the AP Lang credit and chose to take other AP classes that would prove useful to him. However, my daughter did take AP Lit and what she found beneficial was the month or so they spent in class writing and peer reviewing college ap essays. The choice is yours.
