Hello,
I know this question looks silly, but it comes with a reason.
I am now an undergraduate student in Taiwan, studying psychology. I had took a class "3D vision", and it is killing me. This class is like a study group, that each student is responsible for sharing the textbook chapter every week. There are only 4 class left, but I need to hand-in a final term paper(no test for this class).
So the problem is that I couldn't understand what the class is talking about. I am planning to drop the class now since I am trying to save time for research, TOEFL and GRE. I had already earned over 170 credits(including the credits that I am going to earn this semester), which exceeded the requirement of 128 for graduation.
The thing I am now struggling is that I knew the professor will give me probably a A- or even an A if I hand in a good term paper, but that means I might have to spend over 20 to 30 hours to work on it, and I might have no time to do my research or to study English.
I don't have an exclusive GPA, around 3.7/4.0, and already one W (elective course).
I am looking forward to apply for PhD program in the US. So I wondering whether I should drop the class and save me sometime for research or to finish it and avoid a second W in my transcript.

Thank you for your opinion.

Given the investment in time, I would recommend finishing the course. The W would not be a killer, but if your grade estimates are correct it seems worth the time - 20-30 hours NOW is a lot better than an entire other course in some other semester.

What kind of research do expect to accomplished should you drop the course?

Forgot to mention this is the last semester of my undergraduate life.
Due to the law in Taiwan, I will have to serve the army for an year, which I can do nothing for a whole year. This is the reason why I am urge to make a decision, since I have no more time to waste. I still have an internship and English to study.

The course has nothing to do with my graduation, though it is opened by my department.

The research I am doing are nearly complete, and my advisor(don’t know how to call in English) ask me to turn it into paper. Also one phd student ask me if I am able to work with his research.

The main problem is that I don’t feel like learned anything, accept the week that I was response for. If I save the time, I could have totally 40-50 hours for doing research this semester, which is critical for doing psychology experiment.

If you believe the time you can gained from the dropping the courses can get you a published paper, then I would wholly recommend it. Working with a PhD student doing what? Most of the time, these graduate students uses undergraduate for tedious assignments that doesn’t teach you anything relevant.
