should i go for it?

Starting in fall, I will be a third year and I really want to go Greek... Will it be more difficult considering I am a third year? Also, I used to be really active in high school and coming to college, I wanted to join a sorority... However, I met the wrong people who lowered my self esteem and confidence and told me that joining clubs and sororities are bad/wrong. My GPA has dropped to about 2.7-2.8 but my friends back home noticed how unhappy I was in college even though I tried to hide it from them. After having long talks with them, I realized I really need to stop hanging with people that try to change me for the worse and do what I want to do. However, because I'll already be an upperclassmen and my GPA isn't ideal, I was wondering if I even have a shot at getting a bid from a sorority or will I more than likely be cut?

At my school, to go Greek there is a GPA cut off point before you can rush (if you aren’t a first semester Freshmen). My Fraternity usually only goes for Freshman and some Sophomores only because they will give back more when it comes to philanthropy, community service, involvement in other school organizations, more sustained involvement in Greek events.

GPA is very important because Greeks GPA is almost always higher than the non-Greek men/womens’ overall GPA.
