Hi guys :)))

Please help me make a decision. i was going to apply ED to Wellesley, but now i dont think im ready. i heard from some website that although Wellesley ED has an acceptance rate 15% higher than regular, ppl who are applying ED are mostly very well-prepared with their application stuff. i dont think im as well-prepared, because i dont have any standardized testing scores yet. my Oct SAT results are still not out, it's my first take, and Wellesley ED is due in 3 days. Should I go for regular instead? i have all other things done, including recommendation letters, personal essays, supplements... but no SAT or ACT scores available.

Another thing, please chance me for Wellesley regular? im almost giving up ED right now. i want to be as competitive as possible, but i cant be without my test scores. :(

I have an asian passport, but i lived half my live in Zimbabwe. i dont think Wellesley ever had a student from Zimbabwe.. ive experienced the hardships during the worst times in this country and can write some great unique essays about my experiences here - water, food, electricity shortages, economic, safety problems, etc.

my grades are not high, but they can be MUCH higher if i lived somewhere else, and i know that for sure. my unweighted GPA is 3.5, IB Diploma predicted scores are all 6s, because no teacher is willing to predict me a 7 if i can do it. they say if they predict me a 7 and i dont get there, they will be screwed, so they dnt want to risk it. i really believe my grades can be a lot higher because some teachers here are just not serious. we dont even have some of the IB textbooks. very slow internet. no bookstore. teachers dont know much about IB and they're teaching it... (ofc i cant talk about these in my essay though, cos some of my teachers want to read my essays..) also, im in an international school and we dont do rankings, but we dont have a lot of ppl either, so i should be top-quarter.

the Oct SAT i took wasnt as well as i expected. i was dizzy on test day for some stupid reasons, so although i expected something over 2000, now im not sure. i just took my ACT and im predicting myself a 30. i dont have work experience but i have LOTS and LOTS of extrac. activities (CAS hours) - lots of creativity hours, action hours, and service hours. not a lot of leadership activities though... but im a student council representative and demonstrate leadership in group work.

in my Why Wellesley? essay, i talked about my dreams and personal characteristics that match Wellesley and how although i love Zimbabwe, the country seriously limited me in my choices. i hope that could help to explain why my grades are low... :s

Also, can you guys suggest other colleges/univs that i could add in my list? currently i have UCBerkeley, UCLA, Wellesley, Northwestern U, Cornell for my reaches, NYU and Colgate for target, and U of Toronto, UBC, Western Ontario, HKU for safety.

Thank you to everyone who will be replying to this.... A BIG thank-you for helping me out in advance.

ps: this is the first time im posting a thread, so if anything sounds stupid/funny/unclear, please point it out and ill try to clarify it. :))
