Should I go? Spring Semester for University at Buffalo?

Hi, I applied to University at Buffalo for the fall semester 2018 but I got in for the spring semester which I don’t really want to go, because I am 1 semester behind than the fall semester students. My question is can I go to another school instead to earn credit for the first semester and then enter UB? Btw I can still try to enroll the fall semester for the waitlist.

You need to find out if you can still go to Buffalo if you attend another college first. If yes, go to a local CC and get some gen eds out of the way. If not, you can work and get some money. Or, you can still attend CC, but only as a non-matriculated student where you can audit some classes for no credit. Consider taking a class you might take at Buffalo for a preview. Just make sure that you check with Buffalo first. You can study for and take some CLEP tests if they are accepted to get rid of some gen eds.

You might still get off the waitlist.

You should be contacting UB to ask about this. Another option to catch up after starting in the spring might be to take summer classes. See what they say your options are.

  2. Would you want to go there or is SUNY Buff better?
  3. Can you take Community college classes ths fall?

In the end, there is no “behind”…you are at where you are at. If you want to attend SUNY Buf, then this is the way you can do it.

I do have other colleges to go to, SUNY buff is my top choice and since I got rejected from UMass Amherst, so UB became my best choice. I still have a chance to be in the fall semester 2018 for the waitlist tho.

Ask about classes at a CC for the fall, and stay on the waitlist. Checking out the list of CLEP exams accepted for credit also is a great idea.

What is your major? If you have one, check out the graduation requirements for that major at SUNY Buffalo, and see how many must be taken in sequence. If there aren’t many, then starting second semester isn’t a big deal. You can pick up an extra class in a couple semesters or in the summer and still finish in spring of 2022 if you plan carefully.
