I'm a rising senior at a VA public school, and I'm looking to get into Vet science, particularly research. Should I shoot for a school ranked highly in the sciences, or would it be better for me to just go into the Va tech vet program? I would like to stay in-state if possible, but I'm definitely willing to look elsewhere if needed. The only issue with out of state is that my family can't pay much, so I'd need financial/merit aid. Any personal experience greatly appreciated! Thanks!

You will have preference as a resident in the state Vet school you apply at, so apply to that undergrad program

You know you have to either complete undergrad or finish all the prerequisites FIRST, then apply to vet school? You can go to any college for undergraduate, major in whatever you want, THEN apply to vet school.

Honestly, go where ever you think you’ll do the best. For me, I would complete my undergrad work at the college with the vet school (which I am). I feel there are more opportunities there (animal experiences, better professors etc), but more competition as well.
