I'm majoring in econ and plan on attending grad school, so GPA is very important to me. Thoughts?

For econ, definitely Northwestern.

Economics at Northwestern.

Selecting a school based on where you are likely to get a better GPA is ridiculous. Grading will obviously vary within the school and, regardless, grad schools are aware of any significant grading tendencies of undergraduate schools in the same way that undergrad schools are aware of grading tendencies in specific high schools. Having said that, for other reasons, Northwestern is a better alternative.

can someone else verify this? i heard that law schools are more interested in your raw GPA than in evaluating the relative difficulty of your workload.

haha the gpa thing makes me laugh. Go to the emory forum and they will say the exact thing about emory (hard to get a good gpa). Every school says that about every other school. Go to NU. Don’t make this harder than it is. If money plays a factor, then it may take more thought, but seems trivial IMO.

I heard law schools care more about the LSAT.

That you could have a pitiful GPA, but if you have a really good LSAT, they’ll accept you.

Heard this from a lawyer guy.
