I ultimately want to be an entrepreneur, but I don't know what sort of path to take up to there, because obviously I'll need experience and money. I've gotten into Stern as a Stern Scholar which is fairly selective, and UGA as an honors student. GA Tech I forgot to file financial aid, so I'm pretty much ruling that one out. The problem: I'll receive 0 help from my parents to pay. Stern will require about 30k a year in student loans. UGA will require very little since I'm in-state with scholarships and HOPE grants. If I don't go to Stern now, I won't be a Stern scholar and I can't transfer to get the same scholarship. Should I go to UGA and see about transferring to Berkeley or something? Is that even probable at all? Or should I fork out the dough and hit NYU to get placed well for an MBA or maybe a JD/MBA? Help is appreciated.

I may be wrong, but I dont believe that an undergraduate business degree at Stern give you a Masters Of Business degree. Anyway, NYU is a better school than UGA, and Stern especially. The Stern Scholar award is a pretty prestigious scholarship to recieve. So the question for you should really be, do I want to spend the money on a prestigious institution or do I want to graduate relatively free of debt. I dont think that NYU's education is worth that much money, so I personally would go to UGA. It makes more sense in an economics perspective.

I didn't imply that I would get a masters after 4 years. My implication was that Stern places their students in good jobs to get good experience to get into good MBA programs. My question is, is it worth it?

Stern is definitely worth it, especially if you plan on staying in the city, since it's basically a feeder to Wall Street. Any loans that you have to take out yoi'll be more than able to pay back after, since that Stern degree will help you make a nice sum of money in your business goals. It's really a worthwhile investment and I'm sure you'll more than make up the loans. Go for Stern.

Definately Stern. Oceanborn is right. Stern feeds right into Wall Street and the jobs there pay big bucks. You'll have your loans paid off in no time. Also, Stern has a combined B.S./M.B.A. Program.

STERN!!!! OMG Stern does? How do you apply to the BS/MBA program?

i honestly have to agree that you should go with nyu only if it's for a business education.

i think to take out in loans 30K per year simply isn't worth it for a major that is risky or hard to make a living out of like dance, film, or acting.

but since it's business and you can take that anywhere, especially from one of the best schools in it, at the very least you can expect a decent paying job.

Do not waste that much money on undergraduate education. You will hate paying off that much money in student loans. You have a great in-state business school option. Save money for graduate school and get your MBA.

I think I have to go with A2Wolves6 and the other fellow. It just doesn't make sense economically to spend so much on undergrad. I've submitted my commitment deposit at UGA.
