I am struggling about whether or not to ED Scripps. I am interested in biology and don't know if Scripps has strong biological program. If not, what LAC should I apply ? Also, since Scripps is a female school, what the advantages and disadvantages of being in an all-girl school? Besides, Can I take classes at other college in the consortium ? If any one who has first-hand resources about Scripps, please tell me as much as you know!

You really need to visit the campus. It’s not what you think as far as “geographically” how its set up. Someone with more knowledge of Scripps needs to give you day to day input. If you walk ½ a block, you can easily get to the other campuses buildings. Visit before you apply ED; that should answer a LOT of your questions.

I agree with @aunt bea: I would never consider applying ED to any school unless I have visited before hand. You could have all your concerns addressed during the visit and remember ED is binding, so you will locked into the school if you are accepted. If you need Financial aid, that may be a problem.

Do NOT ED to a college you haven’t visited. Period.

What are you looking for in a biology major? Do you want to go to med school, or are you interested in research long term, or something else? What are your stats, and what is your home state? Many, many colleges have good biology programs – I think Scripps is perfectly fine, and you can take a few classes on the other campuses if there is something specific you want that isn’t offered there.

Yes, Scripps students can take some classes at the other four consortium colleges. They are all really close together (put together like Lego blocks into one bigger 5,000 student campus). Scripps is a pretty liberal place. My D2 is a Mudder, and likes to hang out at the Scripps coffee shop. While Scripps is all-female, you do get the benefit of the other four schools right in the same campus area being co-ed and sharing some students in classes if you want more male students around. Obviously the dorms are all women.

Have you considered Mount Holyoke? Opposite coast, but lovely campus, strong in Bio, and a college where academics are taken seriously.

But the problem just that I can’t visit the campus.:(

Thanks for ur answer. It’s helpful for me though. I have check Mount Holyoke. It seems like a good choice for me1
