I was recently accepted and I’m trying to figure out where I want to go. I want to find out more about the visual arts department at UCSD and what going as an art major would be like. My major is speculative design. Should I go?
I’ve spoken with someone who’s in the major and she (briefly) described it as “imagining a world where xxx is not xxx, but rather yyy”, and (my non-artsy extrapolation) building off on those assumptions to create art. Sorry if that’s super vague. I wouldn’t say that art is UCSD’s strength exactly, but I might be wrong. What would your other options be?
