Hi, I was accepted to USC and am strongly considering going there.
However, I'm not sure whether USC has a strong enough reputation for my perspective major bus/econ. I will also be taking pre- med courses alongside my bus/econ major because I am also considering going into medicine. How much does the undergrad rep matter for job opportunities after graduation? How much does it matter for grad school, business school or medical school? What is USC's rep in general and also in bus/econ? Also how difficult is it to get a good GPA at USC compared to UCLA, UCI, or Berkeley? The answers to these questions will help me decide whether I will go to USC or not. If there is anyone that can help answer these questions, please dont hesitate to respond.

USC undergraduate business is ranked ninth in the nation.

As far as difficulty of attaining a good gpa, I'm not sure anyone could honestly tell you as we likely have only attended one school. From what I've seen (gf's a biz/econ girl at UCLA), biz econ students have a higher workload but USC is more competitive. This is because Marshall (the business school) curves the mean grade to a 2.85. A business friend of mine last week got a C- on a quiz despite scoring 91% because the mean was much higher, yet curved to a B-. Essentially, one doesn't study to get into the A range; one studies to beat everyone else. The argument could be made that this is true of any curved class, yet curves are generally meant to help students out. In Marshall, it exists to breed competition.

Berkeley is famous for it's lack of grade inflation. I know UCLA biz/econ students have a large workload and I would expect much the same of their Haas kids.

You can't go wrong with any of them, really. I'd say that you should go to whichever makes you feel the best, and forget the reputation because once you get there the whole reputation issue melts away; you will soon realize that you have more important things to worry about.

USC undergrad business is 9th in the nation and UCLA is not on the ranking because they don't have a business major (you apply for bizecon degree, and these kids compete pretty evenly with those coming out of Marshall I hear). Haas at UCB I believe is 3rd, but HIGHLY competitive to get in, you apply your Jr. year I hear. All schools are good business-wise, you really can't go wrong. Not too sure about the others.
