Should I have so much free time?

The past year, I had an immense amount of free time everyday. Although the activities I do looks extensive on paper, I’m living a life far different from the stereotyped high achieving high schooler due to having so much time on my hands. Many of my peers are constantly stressed to due an immense load of activities…should I be worried about having so much free time? I don’t believe that I’ll be able to handle any more projects than what I currently have now without cutting corners, but I’m a bit frightened that I’m not doing enough.

Considering that it’s summer vacation free time is a good thing. It’s our break, jesus.

Do you feel like you aren’t challenged enough on a daily basis? Have you been sustaining poor study habits?

@nyuhopeful44 Haha yeah I was more talking about the school year.
@Studious99 Yep, I’m not very challenged. My study skills get me through my classes well enough, so I don’t think that’s too much of a problem. The main problem is that I can get bored in my free time, and honestly, my friends are too busy with their work to meet up with me.

Free time is good. Take a nap

do a passion project

Depends on what you want to get out of your high school experience. If you’re happy with having ample time on your hands, I don’t see the problem. However, there’s so much you can do to to take up your free time - get a job, read, volunteer, pursue your interests, etc. I see from a previous thread of yours that you want to go to some extremely selective schools; schools like Brown and CalTech want to see you make the best out of your four years in high school, including summer. If you’re serious about applying, I’d really recommend you take up some more EC’s, work more in the ones you’re in now, or increase your class rigor. What you have on paper now might be great, but it’s not your full potential, is it?

Additionally, I don’t understand how taking on more projects would mean having to undercut your current ones. It sounds like you have a ridiculous amount of time on your hands - if not taking on more EC’s, work harder in them, or take harder classes, as I’ve stated previously.

@pinklinks thanks for the advice
@soontobecolleger that idea is pretty cool :slight_smile:
@applejuice007 thanks
