Should I Hold Off On Math?

I'm not sure if I should switch out of Math Analysis (or should I say Math Anal? Hah). I mean, I understand three years of math is required to apply to Brown and all, but sadly, in California, Algebra 1 is taken in 8th grade instead of 9th. It's been a downward slope for me ever sense. I've gotten by with Cs in both Geometry and Algebra 2 (both Honors), mostly due to the fact that the teacher made the stuff make sense, and there was a lot of extra credit and ways to make up points missed on a test. But either way, I never really understood most of the theorems and such in those.

But now Math Analysis is terrible. I went for regular instead of Honors thinking it'd be a bit slower paced and easier to understand, not to mention easier to pass. But it's the exact opposite; the teacher is this incompetent (and rather sexist, I may add) guy who doesn't really teach much at all; more like lectures. It's just basically take notes, do assignment, and if you don't get it ask the person next to you. No real extra credit, and he often has snide remarks if you don't get it, like "Oh, all the girls get it. What's wrong with you fellas?" It's pretty grating.

Not only that, but I missed two days of class because my schedule was screwed up and I had to go to fix it, thus missing the first two assignments, and I did horrible on the first quiz. Now I'm at about a 36%, which isn't really good. The only upside is that many people say he's really easy, as the tests are mostly only the warmups, and we get a page of notes. So should I stick it out, hoping to actually pass, or drop it and take something like AP Stats next year?

I would stick with it for like you said three years of HS math are required at Brown.

Try switching to Honors! Have you heard anything about it from friends who are in that level?
