i have written this pretty good essay that i want to send to every college i am applying to but most of them do not require a supplementary essay.

Should i just include it in the additional info part of the common application.

is there a penalty for including additional essays even if they do not ask for it??

I think i will be writing about the ecs i have participated in till now in the additional info section. SO i do not know where else to put my supplementary essay

well..it depends. if it's a really popular college or state u, then porbably not. these college admissions officers get crap loads of mail every week...the last thing they need is someone trying to over impress them...not that it's a bad idea but maybe a little too far over the edge. do what makes you happy but u asked and i'm saying probably not. they probably won't get a chance to read it anyway and maybe get a weird feeling about u.

i thought of it too. if i was to submit the common app by paper, i could easily attach an essay at the back. But since everything is done online now, i'm not sure if I should send it by mail. Same problem lol. Every college should have supplements like Harvard does, where it makes essays of your choice an optional material.
