my main reason for doing either is to make friends outside of class and with upperclassmen i will be a freshman next year and i didn't plan on playing any sports but when i went to the club fair thing t he coaches pounced im tall and big fat but not like obese so i am supposed to do football basketball and track and i am pretty much guaranteed a spot on the teams but i wanted to be on newspaper and join diversity club and run for asb i doubt i will be able to do all these things because they will conflict so what should i do join clubs or play sports i can be on the newspaper either way because it is a class but idk about the rest

I thought this was going to be a joke thread, but it seems to be serious. And since you have asked for my opinion, I will give it.

You should DEFINITELY get involved with clubs. If you think it’s interesting, join. Don’t worry about the conflicts unless you know from the start that you will never be able to attend meetings. Clubs are the best way to meet people. I have made so many friends all across the board from different activities. Most of them are fun most of the time too. And getting involved helps your grades to because you have to keep your grades somewhat up to participate in sports. This may be personal, but I like to be busy too. I function better when I have a lot to do, because it forces me to budget my time better, which helps with grades.

I really can’t stress enough how important it is for freshies to join clubs.

hey thanks this helped but quick question why would this be a joke

Um…because it’s obvious that one needs to join clubs and/or play sports to meet new people and have something to put on your college app. If you don’t do one or the other, well, I’ve never met such a person.

People post jokes on here sometimes where they would be like…

“OMG I only got an A in AP Physics. Can I still get into college.”

Things like that.

Do things because they are FUN and INTERESTING. Meeting people will come with time. You have four years ahead of you to meet people, and you’ll definitely meet a lot of different people in high school. Take it easy :)
