Should I just chance my roomate or try to find someone?

I’m wanting to live in a triple, preferably in Mesa Court. Should I just let fate tell me who my roommates will be or should I try to find some? Also where could I even go about finding roommates?

I’m interested in this question too although I’m going to be at Cal Poly SLO next year. This might be a good question for the college life forum of this website

Try asking in the UC subforum.

If you want to look for a roommate yourself, there’s probably a “Class of 2020” Facebook page where you can look for a roommate.

But to be honest you probably have the same chance of finding a good roommate on Facebook as you do through the automatic selection process so it may not be worth the effort.

Do you have the option to take a housing survey or to put down your preferences in a roommate? If so I would do that. The most important things are likely sleeping habits, guest policy, room sharing, noise levels, substance use, ect which are often covered in the surveys. You can usually find these through the college survey. If not you can certainly try to find a roommate through social media, just be sure to discuss your various habits first to make sure you are compatible

So I’m attending UC Irvine next year and I really wondering about a roommate situation. I’m an out of state student so I don’t know anyone else attending the school. Should I just let the housing office choose my roommate or try to find one. If I should find one, how do I go about doing that?

Thanks!
