Title says it all (I am considering quest bridge and similar programs)
Yes.
Yes, you should because very few colleges give out financial aid packages than meet full need to most of their students. Just because the calculators say you have , say an EFC of zero, it doesn’t mean the schools are going to be offering you financial aid so that you and your parents pay nothing.
QB is excellent in that if you get one of the match scholarships , it is a full ride. But they are very difficult to get. Read the rules on the QB
v-e-r-y carefully and know them well. Good luck
Hey! I just wanted say that I was really scared about the college process too because my parents make about the same a year(30k) and my dream school was to attend George Washington University. GW is extremely expensive, the cost of living is around 77k. Those are big numbers. I am first generation student, so I didn’t know how much to expect from GW, let alone if I’d even get accepted!
I personally applied to a lot of scholarships! I challenged myself to apply to at least 30+ scholarships every year until I graduated from college. I was trying to find as many ways to afford college because I didn’t know how much I’d need to go to college. I tried focusing on local scholarships since their my aren’t as competitive. As a senior, I’ve applied to 24 scholarships and I’m still applying to more!
I am happy to say I was accepted into George Washington’s Elliott School of International Relations for the class of ‘24. I was given their presidential scholarship and a huge financial aid package! They awarded me 73k for next year!
Although do keep in mind that you will need to apply for financial aid every year.
I wish you the best of luck!
yes, apply for scholarships…but also make sure your family completes the FAFSA as soon as it becomes available to file. And check to see if your colleges require the CSS Profile as well. If so, file that ASAP. These both will be available for completion on October 1 of your senior year in high school.
The best scholarships and financial aid in general come from the colleges to which you get admitted.
Yes, do questbridge if you are eligible. It’s terrific if you receive it.
Look for whether your state has any grant awards for low income students. Some do.
Yes. We’re similar income and unless you are able to get into one of the more elite meets full needs schools or plan on living at home and commuting to a low cost college you can expect to still have a considerable amount that you will have to cover after aid.
