Should I move to a California Community College?

Hi!
So I’m currently a student in a community college in Seattle and I’ve completed a year here. I am planning to transfer to UC Berkeley and Irvine, so I am thinking of moving to a CCC in Fall 2018.
However, UC applications open in Fall 2018 and that means that I need to submit the scores even before I start college in California. Will this still give me a priority to transfer to UC Berkeley? (CCC gets prioritized by UC Berkeley)

If I’m not going to be prioritized, then I think I’m just gonna stay in Seattle and try my luck!

IF you are a U.S. citizen and are able to establish residency in CA, then yes.

So you are aware of the fees to non-residents?
If you are under the age of 24, then you are still considered a dependent student.
Assume full fees at the community college and non resident fees will continue at $65K per year for the UC’s.

Financial Independence
In addition to 366 days of physical presence and intent, to be classified a resident for tuition purposes, a student who is not dependent on a California-resident parent must demonstrate financial independence (total self-sufficiency) for two full years immediately preceding the RDD of the term for which a resident classification is sought.

FYI: the areas around Irvine and Berkeley are very expensive.
But if you can afford OOS, then go for it!

If you want CA CC transfer priority, you would need at least 30 semester//45 quarter units at the time of application so NO you will not get CA CC priority. You will be considered OOS.
