Should I move to California with my family and attend university there?

Im currently a sophomore in HS.I'll be turning 16 soon. I plan to graduate in the summer of 2016. My current gpa is 2.8 unweighted and 3.5 weighted. I honestly dont know if the major state universities will accept me so I would like to know how bad is Miami Dade community college and then transferring to a state university?

Also I was considering moving to California when I turn 18. My mother and a lot of my family lives there so I wouldnt have to pay for a dorm hopefully. I really havent thought about college or good universities in Cali tho. Can you name a few?

Um. UCLA, UC Berkeley, or with your stats if you raise your grades (the UCs don’t use freshman year for your gpa) more likely possibly UCD UCSB UC Santa Cruz, UC Riverside…

Chico is great, as are other CSUs, or if you want to start at a community college they have a ‘tag’ program where you can transfer to a UC if you get good grades at the CC your first two years.

It would be easier for you if you move to California before you turn 18 and graduate from a California high school if you want to qualify for tuition assistance like Cal Grant. The Bright Futures grants/scholarships you might get will not transfer to California schools. If you apply as an OOS student, I believe they want higher stats. Good luck on your decision.
