I am a junior in high school. I am being recruited to play baseball at Brown and Columbia. Anyone out there play varsity sports at either school? How about a little advice.
Thanks.

I’ve had several great friends who played baseball here and loved it. One of my professor’s kid is on the team right now, and John Franco’s son is starting this year.

Best I got for you.

who is john franco?

ok. i googled john franco. mets pitcher.

Brown would have the advantage of having the athletic fields nearby with more student support. Columbia’s athletic fields are located all over the borough, often accsessed only by bus, van or subway.

Do you much prefer an intense urban experience like NYC? Or do you like a grassy, more spacious campus like Brown, which still has small city amenities and is an hour from Boston?

i like the idea of just walking to practice. that’s for sure. i hope to get a better idea of nyc vs. providence when i take my official visits.

Good luck on your OVs- you have two great options.

please…is there no one else?

Yes, there’s me.
Lou Gehrig went to Columbia, but the kids of Bull Durham’s two stars (Costner, Sarandon) went to Brown.
Columbia’s Robertson Field is nicer, but a long home run at Brown’s Murray Stadium breaks a window, just like at Wrigley Field.
