Should I prepare to take the SAT even though I took the ACT?

Ok so I took the ACT and made a 34. I asked my teachers if I should take the SAT and they said it doesn’t matter since my ACT score was high but I’m having a hard time believing that. So would it be beneficial for me to take the SAT and score high and submit both an ACT and SAT score, or would it be the same if I just submit a 34? Also, I took math 2 and chemistry subject tests and got 710, 730 respectively. Should I prepare to retake these and shoot for a higher score if I’m applying to schools like Berkeley and UCLA?

Your teachers are correct ; 34 is at or above 75% percentile for almost every school, and an excellent overall score. Just work on the other aspects of your application. Your subject tests as are at 69th percentile for M2 and 76th percentile for Chem of the students applying to elite colleges. Most schools consider anything about 700 just fine. I’d only consider re-taking the subject tests if you are thinking about Cal’s CoE or CoC ; competition is especially fierce for admittance to those schools. Your GPA and AP/IB course load is far more important and you’ve already exceeded what you will likely need, especially if you are in-state. Great work!

You are absolutely done with that score, Congratulations for that impressive score.

Do you need to certify your PSAT score for NMF? That would be the only reason to take the SAT at this point.

You’re done. Move on.
