I officially hold a patent with the USPTO. Should I include that in my CommonApp? And if so, where exactly would I put it? Would it go under the Honors section?

Thanks in advance

Yes absolutely - why not include it in your common app essay? This should be considered a significant achievement, but unless you can personalize it and make it your own, it will be meaningless. AdComs will simply think some consultant or college counselor helped you get it without expending much (or any) personal effort. If you don’t want to write about it yourself then perhaps one of your HS teachers or advisors can mention it in their rec letter.

Also put it in the additional information box after the essay.

Since getting a patent in HS is actually unusual, but not necessary is a sign of accomplishment, I guess you need to provide additional information why did you get a patent and what did you do with it.
