Should I put on my common app to other schools that I won the Rensselaer Medal? I don’t want them to think I only want to go there
Yes! Congratulations! Unless it has changed, it is given to the top math and science kid at the schools that participate–it is an honor just like a Book Award(Dartmouth, Harvard, others ) and no college will make assumptions on your intended matriculation.
Absolutely! Congratulations! My son did. He didn’t attend RPI.
Yep, put it on the app. Mine did as well and also didn’t go to RPI.
Thank you so much for the feedback! I was concerned because it was on my common app when I applied early decision at WPI and after I sent it I started to worry they would like I was not serious about their school and would only want to go to RPI because of the scholarship money. I am also going to apply to RPI too but really like WPI. Another question does win other medal help you get into RPI?
Sorry was walking and typing! I was thinking WPI would not like it and think that I only wanted to go to RPI
It won’t hurt you at WPI. My son got into both.
Maybe it’s just me, but if I was an AO and I had your application in front of me, I’d probably assume you’d have interest in my school - or you wouldn’t have applied.
Agreed! And most AOs know what the Rensselaer Medal is, recognition of the top math and science student. That’s an impressive feather in the cap!
Thank you all for the advice. You were right it did not impact the decision. I was accepted today in EA at WPI.
