Should I re-take the ACT? Junior Level Transfer

Hello All

I am currently a sophomore at my institution and I am seeking transfer elsewhere for the fall of 2017. My current ACT score is a 29. My question is 1. Does a ACT score matter this far in? and 2. If it does, should I retake it?

Thanks

Check the transfer policies of the schools you’re thinking of applying to.

For some schools, if you have a certain number of units, ACT scores are not required.

Some people do retake the ACT in college for scholarships or they’re intending to apply to selective colleges where ACT scores carry some weight in the application.

If you’re transferring to be a junior at another institution, your act doesn’t matter as much as your GPA and other school activities/ recommendation letter for the most part. There may be some weird exception I don’t know about. But act measures college readiness. So if your GPA is cool and you got a professor or two you’re chill with, you’re ok.

My friend went to UIC, then to community college because of $$ issues, then tried applying back to UIC but since he had at 2.5 in CC, he got rejected even though his gpa at uic was a 3.2 and his ACT was a 34.
