I have had a rough start to high school with the year closing, I think I have a 3.2 GPA. I did not apply my heart into academics and I am really stressed. My parents were discussing moving to Boston. I was wondering if I should I redo ninth grade and accumulate a better gpa and I am a year younger than most of my classmates.
Sincerely,
Sid
I wouldn’t do it just for the GPA (you can always show an upward trend in your grades), but rather for the opportunity to begin anew and give yourself some extra time to mature. Starting a new high school at the same time others start it will make for a more natural transition.
If you are moving to a new area and can benefit from a do-over while remaining with a age-appropriate cohort, why not?!?
What do your parents think?
No, don’t waste your time.
No. You would have to provide the transcript from every HS you attend so the 3.2 won’t go away and admissions officers will be left to wonder why you repeated 9th grade. Just do your best moving forward.
No. With a 3.2, you have no grounds for repeating and it’d hurt you in the long run.
What classes did you take this year?
Did you get any F or D?
What do you plan to do next year to avoid this year’s problem?
Don’t do it, it will mess up your transcript and ultimately may hold you back. Just make sure to show improvement in the next years of HS.
No, it’s definitely not worth it. Freshman year is a tough transition for everyone. Colleges will understand as long as you continue to improve. Good luck!
