I found some guy with exactly the same likings as me, but I don't know him.

Should I request him, or will Berkeley Housing match me based on similarities anyways?

This is important only because it's really important I find a guy who sleeps late and wakes late so we don't wake each other and what not.

So should I do it? Or are chances likely that I'll be partnered with a guy similar enough automatically?

it can’t to try. i didn’t pick any rooming preferences on my housing app this year and my roomate and i have pretty different sleeping/neatness habits. she is messy/wakes up early and i am neat/wake up late.

but i think they try to match you to some degree with someone who is similar to you.

I’m in a triple this year, and for the first semester only had one roommate, for reasons unknown. She and I have similar sleep/eating/cleaning habits so we’ve been compatible and have been getting along great.

Come second semester, I got a third roommate but it’s awful. My first roommate and I sleep at around 3-4AM, spending God knows how many hours dicking around. The new roommate sleeps at around midnight and demands that we turn the lights off so as to not “screw with our sleeping patterns.”

Crapshoot. I suppose you could just go request it. It’s not guaranteed you’ll be matched up with somebody compatible if you leave it up to them.

^ I hope that doesn’t happen to me next year when I’m in a triple cuz I stay up till 2-3 doing random stuff too lol
I would make so much noise if the lights were to go off
