Should I Request Regrade for December ACT Essay?

Hey all,

I received back all my ACT section scores 32C{36E, 32M, 29R, 30S] which were as expected. However, my essay score was a 21, and wasn’t even close to my expected score. To prepare, I used Revolution Prep, through which I took 6 practice tests. In all these 6 tests, my 4 section scores (EMRS) were essentially identical to the December test, but my essay was not. In all 6 essays, I got 2 36s, 2 33s, and 2 30s. The fact that Revolution Prep’s tests mirrored my 4 section scores shows me that they are accurate representations. However, my essay score of 21 being 9 POINTS off the bottom of my essay range concerns me. Is this an error with ACT grading? Should I request a regrade for the essay?

Yeah, everyone’s been having problems with this. Hopefully the ACT investigates this soon. In the meantime, I wouldn’t request a regrade unless you’re in a hurry to send the scores in somewhere. I think that since this seems to be such a widespread problem, they just might take a look at everyone’s scores for free???
