Should I retake a non-major class if I get a C?

I’m taking BIO 1020 (Intro to Biological Diversity @ my uni), and I made a bad grade on the first test, one of only three, and I’m afraid I won’t get a B; an A is already way out of the question. I’m a Spanish major, so I’m not sure if retaking this class is worth the stress. My instructor is very nice and she’s offered extra credit (catching dragon flies and taking pictures of them/bringing them to her), but I don’t know if that will be enough to cut it.

I brought in 31 credits from high school, in which I got all A’s. I’m just afraid I’ll butcher my GPA. I still have 2 tests, 8 quizzes, and various sets of my notes that my prof uses as extra grades. Thoughts?

I’m a freshman who began as a sophomore.

Given all of the assignments you have yet to do, I think you have plenty of time to pull your grade up.

In terms of retaking the class after getting a c, I feel like there is not enough information here as different schools have different retake policies. Will they allow a retake with only a c? Does the original c stay on your transcript and factor into your gpa? Does it stay on your transcript, but only the new grade is counted towards your gpa? Honestly, if it is only a gen ed, and you are doing well in the rest of your classes, I would not retake it. But the questions above are important ones you need to consider.

@AwesomeAxolotl , at my uni you can retake a class even if you received an -A; as long as the money comes their way, they don’t care. The original C is replaced by the new grade if it is higher and is then removed, after which your GPA is updated.

No, it would be a complete waste of time.
