Should I retake classes I received a "C" in?

What do you think? If I want to get into a good MBA program or MSAcc progam, is it worthwhile to retake classes I received a C in?

I received a C in two science classes and 1, 1 credit hour business class (I could easily bring that to an A).

I don't know my colleges policy, but I believe they keep both grades on the transcript, which IMO would look bad if a grad school admission committee saw that I retook a couple classes (I'd probably only retake 2 b/c of finances).

Do you think I should just say "No way" and forget about it, or is it something that would help me? If I raised the grade to an A, would it look like I really "cared" or not really make much of a difference?

Also, like many of you have read, I have 1 "W" in a class; I had to withdrawal from it because my family needed my help financially, so I had to pick up another job. It wasn't for my major and I was just doing it to satisfy the 150 credit hour requirement I needed. It was before we had ANY grades, so as you can see, it wasn't because I was failing or anything. Also, that semester I was still a full-time student with 13 credit hours (after the "W") and received a 4.0; so while working I was able to keep the other grades up.

I fear the 3 C's and 1 explainable "W" will kill my chances of getting into any good graduate school program; and I have high aspirations.

(Brief academic stuff so far; Little over a year left until I get my B.S. in Accounting. 3.41-3.44 overall GPA, 3.52 major GPA. Have received my A.S. in Business Administration. Possible to raise my overall GPA to 3.50+. Possible it will stay the same. EC's include 1 year full-time employment, 3 P/T jobs, volunteer work, etc.)

Thanks for the help and for reading.

Not worth it if you want a Macc or MBA. GPA has very little significance in MBA admissions, and a 3.3+ will get you an interview with a big4 (assuming thats what you want post undergrad).

So a top 10 MAcc program won't reject me based solely on what information I gave there, all other things aside?

Well, I dunno too much about MAcc programs (I'm getting my 150 done in 4 years of undergrad), but once you get an interview from the big 4, the MAcc has very little significance in terms of you getting a job and salary.

I would say that as long as you have a 3.3+, you should be able to get into many MAcc and get interviews with big 4s. However, if you have substantially lower than a 3.3 overall GPA, retaking "c" courses might be in your interest IF you can pull the grades up.

Business students have trouble with Science, why am I not suprised?

Because I'm disinterested in science? Sorry Oceanography really isn't my thing; I prefer debits and credits:)

Thanks taxguy, I appreciate it. My unofficial transcript/grades came in the mail today and I have a 3.42 overall right now, 3.52 Major, so I'm okay, I guess.

I know that the MAcc does not make a huge difference in salary, etc., but when you have no recruiters from the big 4 at your undergrad school it's something I have to consider (going to get my MAcc).

I realize the Master's in Accounting isn't for everyone; but some people, like me, really need it to help them get a foot in the door.
