Ok, so I don't want to seem like one of those people who is posting just to brag about scores and stuff, but I took the ACT for the first time and got a composite of 32. I think that's pretty good, but I'm not sure if it's good enough for me to be a competitor in some of the more selective schools (those liberal arts schools in New England.)
I was thinking about taking it again because I only got a 27 on the math section and I want to try to bring it up a few points. I was shooting for a 33 composite, but maybe 32 is good enough and I should just stick with that.
Do you think I should take it again? And if I did take it again, would I have to retake the essay, or could I send both scores to colleges and have them just look at the writing of the first one?
Thanks!

Great job! A 32 is in the 98 percentile I believe! It depends on what grade you are in… If you are a junior, I think you should re-take in June to see if you can get a higher score on math. Some schools superscore, but without knowing what colleges you applying to, I can’t say if they will take the writing from the first attempt. I would say yes - it’s only an extra 30 minutes. You can even get a higher essay score (unless you got a 12). Look on the websites or contact the admissions of the colleges you are considering to find out what they do.
Best of luck!

Assuming that you took the December ACT test I would defiently retake it!! you did very well, but the math section on that test was ridiculous. I took the ACT test without studying in september and got a 28 on the math section and I also misread some problems and guessed on some easy ones by accident, so my score should have been higher. Then I studied tremondously for the math test in december and got a 27. The math section on the test would probably be easier, dont worry.
