Hello all,
I just received my results for the February 2018 ACT. I had a composite of 30, with a 25 in Reading and 32 in every other section. On all of my practice tests, I’ve made a 31 in Reading. This was my first ACT. Should I retake the ACT for a better Reading score? Also, how much will it affect my admissions process of having a 30 vs 32 composite? I have a 3.5 GPA.
@aforrest Take more practice tests to get used to the setup of the exam and feel more comfortable with the questions the ACT might throw to you on test day. The higher your ACT score is, the better, especially if you’re eyeing top tier schools. Otherwise, it’s a good score! Keep up the good work!
33 and above is a common cut off for elite programs even at state schools (Burnett Medical Scholars / Boulder engineering scholarship are example that impacted my DD). You are close enough to make another push. Plus at a minimum you will improve for super scoring schools.
