Should I retake? Help me please.

Hello guys... I am an international student in the 12th grade, I took the SAT for the first time in November 2. But I didn't scored well :( CR-340 M-580 W-440. Honestly I didn't prepare well because I had a lot of exams in school at this period. So I am planing to retake the test on January 25. The school exams will finish by December 15. From then I will start preparing seriously for the SAT. That means I will have approximately 40 days for preparation.

So, If I worked hard and practiced well in this 40 days. How do you think my score will be improved?

For my first try I was preparing in the "Princeton Review". Do you have any recommendations of better books?

By the way I took the TOEFL iBT and I scored 90. And I am planning to apply to an Undergraduate Engineering Program ( Mechanical Engineering )

Thank you for taking the time to answer.

Help me please!!!

CR 340 is not “didn’t scored well”, it is barely above just putting your name down. You need to brush up on your English. If you don’t know English well enough to interpret passages, studying by itself will not help. You need to study and have a resource who knows English to help you.

90 out of 120 would not be that good on the TOEFL, and would be in line with low CR and writing scores. What schools are you targeting? If you want to go to college in the US, maybe you should consider a community college or junior college first.

How do you do in your classes in your native language, especially math and science?

I am targeting engineering school and I am excellent in math and science.
