I took it my sophomore summer, and received a 770. I’m not sure if I’ll remember all the material, but I think I could review it.
I also took the SAT Math II, on which I received a 800.
I was considering whether I should take the Literature SAT as well, just to seem more “well-rounded”… and who knows, I might even get a good score. If I were to retake the chemistry test, I think I will add on Literature.
For more context: I haven’t taken the SAT yet, but I got a 1480 on my PSAT and have a 4.0/4.0 unweighted GPA (we don’t have weighted GPAs at my school).
I want to apply to schools like MIT. Will a 770 on the Chemistry SAT affect my application at all?
Unless you are positive you could get a higher score on the chem sat subject test, I wouldn’t go through the extra hassle and time studying when you could focus your time on another sat subject test (like literature) or just the SAT since you haven’t taken it yet. 770 is still very impressive, and the 800 on math || looks great as well. I would just try to get an 800 or in the high 700s for your literature subject test. Good luck!
Thank you for the advice!
Unless you are applying to Georgetown (which recommends 3 subject tests), I would say you are done with taking subject tests as you have two top notch scores to submit. Sure, you could take the Lit. test, but I’m not sure for what purpose. I would spend the time keeping grades up, applying to competitive summer programs that align with you interests and obtaining a 1550+ on the SAT. Good luck, you’re in good shape!
A 770 will not negatively impact your application. Focus on boosting your SAT instead.
