Should I retake my SAT for a shot at the Presidential Scholarship?

I’m looking to apply to UB next year for their fantastic merit aid. I’m going to apply for the NYS Stem Scholarship as well, which covers most of the tuition. My approx. stats for next year will be:
UW 96.5
AP’s: Calc BC (senior yr), AP Lit (senior), AP Physics C (senior), AP Chem (senior), AP Government (5), AP Physics 1 (5), AP Language (4)*, AP World (4)
*= estimating my score
I’m taking SAT Subject for Physics and Math II in June.
I haven’t done any clubs but have volunteering experience in the environment, as well as a manager at McDonalds for two years and a waitress for one year (simultaneously)
And finally, an SAT of 1460.

Admittedly, I didn’t study for the first time. But I hate standardized testing. Should I apply anyway? Take the SAT again? Or just rely on other scholarships?

I would definitely try to get your SAT’s up. Even though you are just below the range given of 1470 or higher, remember that over 400 people will apply, only about 75 will get an interview and only 25 will receive the scholarship. I think everyone applying will be safely within the SAT range or well above. In order to get the interview, the numbers must be there. My older son increased his SAT dramatically (1510) by taking practice tests the summer before senior year It really paid off-he did get the pres. scholarship and is graduating this Sunday with a degree in physics.

Younger son also just received the pres. scholarship with an SAT of 1530 and will be entering UB in the fall as a computer science or engineering major. There were other factors that helped them get the interview (high musical and sports achievement).

Good luck and get practicing!
