Should I retake my SATs?

In December, I received:

CR: 690
M: 720
W: 770 (12 Essay)
= 2180

Should I retake, or are these decent? I'm applying to:

Columbia
Cornell
Brown
MIT
Vanderbilt
Johns Hopkins
Yale
Stanford
Princeton
(and, of course, some safeties)

Any opinion is appreciated. Thank you!

Definitely...your total score is very good, but your M + Cr score won't be as competitive (most schools don't care about the Wr section, which just so happens to be your highest sub score). You also defintely want to get the Cr score above 700. bonne chance!!!

But my M + CR score is pretty good, right?

^ of course... 1400+ is great for any school....1500+ is better.

it's up to you though.

I'd keep it -- a 2180 is excellent.

If you've taken the SAT less than 3 times, retake it. Otherwise, your score is good enough and you should leave it.

I agree with gk23, but I'd say like... if you've taken it less than TWO times, you should retake it. But it depends on how much better you think you can do. If what you have right now is just about as good as you're doing on practice tests, definitely don't retake, because what's the point? If you're getting higher consistently on practice tests, or feel like there's something you can definitely do better on (especially in CR), retake.

alpha2400 - quote : I'd keep it -- a 2180 is excellent.
And you were worried about your 2340... ;)

For Yale, MIT or Stanford, retake it. For these colleges (and other ivies) the higher your SAT, the better. However, only retake if you think you can do better, or if you're gonna do something different this time (i.e. prep). Best of luck

This was my first time taking the SAT, so yeah, I guess I will retake it.
