Hi,
I am an international student that scored 2220 (CR720, M800, W700 10) during my freshman year. I am now a junior who is considering retaking the SAT. Assuming I can get at least 2300 superscored if I retake, is it worth it? Because then I would become one of many students who took the SAT twice and achieved a 2300. Of course, there are many factors in determining the fate of a college application but regarding this one in particular, should I retake?

I felt this was more suitable in the college admissions section because when I took the SAT also comes into play.

Thanks,

I would advise you to take it, if it’s not a financial hardship. You’ve grown a lot in two years, and I would expect your score to rise, even without intense preparation. I think it’s tricky when kids are taking it three and four times, and there is potential for an already high score to go down. But in your case it’s only a second time, especially after a two year gap, I would definitely advise to go for it.

I agree. The difference between freshman year and junior year should be noticeable. Good luck.

If you feel the score does not reflect your current level, do retake it. It is not just for admission purpose, you may even get merit scholarships at some schools with a higher score. The question is not if one should retake, it is whether one can get a higher score.

Normally I wouldn’t tell anyone who gets a 2200 to retake the SAT, but normally the people asking just took it the previous month. From freshman to junior year of high school, I would expect anyone to increase their ability and score, so I think it would be worth retaking.
