I got a 30 on the ACT and I'm not sure if I should retake. I want to go to UNC Chapel Hill and I know they have a very holistic approach to evaluating applicants but I'm still not sure if my score is good enough. I feel like I'm a strong applicant in all the other areas (grades, GPA, AP scores, class rank, and leadership/ECs). Can anyone give any advice or say what they would do in my position? My reading and writing sub scores were good but my science was a 25 and math was a 29

IMO before you decide to retake it take some practice tests and see if you score increases first. If it doesn’t then you wouldn’t want to waste your money.

Also it really depends on how good your other things really are, if they are as good as you think however then 30 should get you in.

It will never hurt to retake the test if you are unsure. A 30 is a high score, (top 95% I believe) but getting your science score up could improve your composite even more! Good luck!
